Cookie Policy

Signing in sets an essential session cookie so you stay logged in. This cookie is necessary for account features, including saved lists, and is not optional. Signing out ends that session.

If you never sign in, Place of Rest does not need this cookie to let you search or view public memorial records.

When you accept or reject analytics, that choice is stored in your browser under the key por-analytics-consent. It is local storage on your device, not a cookie we send with later requests, and it exists only so we can remember what you chose.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand overall traffic and site performance. It is described in our Privacy Policy and stays enabled separately from the PostHog choice below.

We use PostHog to understand how visitors use Place of Rest, for example whether searches, contributions and sharing features are being used successfully.

PostHog analytics only starts after you choose Accept analytics. If you reject analytics, Place of Rest does not initialise PostHog or send PostHog analytics events.

If you are signed in and have accepted analytics, PostHog may receive your internal Place of Rest user ID so activity can be associated across sessions. We do not send your account name or email address to PostHog for analytics identification.
